David Kaplan: Yeah
Mismatched cousins reunite on a trip to Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, but their old tensions surface amidst the backdrop of their family history. When Benji and David visit their grandmother’s house in Poland, the place is where Jesse Eisenberg’s real ancestors settled as immigrants. Benji Kaplan: We stay moving, we stay light, we stay agile. Benji Kaplan: The conductor comes, takes our tickets, we tell him we’re going to the bathroom. David Kaplan: To the bathroom. Benji Kaplan: He gets to the back of the train, starts walking toward the front, looking for stragglers. David Kaplan: Excuse me, are we stragglers?
Benji Kaplan: Yeah
When he gets to the front, the train will be in the station and we’ll be home free. David Kaplan: This is so fucking stupid. Tickets are probably like twelve bucks. Benji Kaplan: It’s the principle. We shouldn’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland. It’s our country. David Kaplan: No, it’s not, it was our country.

They kicked us out because they thought we were cheapskates. Appeared on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #46.44 (2024). 12 Etudes, Op. 25, No. 3 in F Major Written by Fryderyk Chopin Performed by Tzvi Erez. It’s about two cousins, played by Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, who go to Poland and go on a tour that includes a visit to an old concentration camp. So the movie obviously gets dark, but it’s also funny and heartwarming.

The cousins hang out and smoke pot. Sometimes their relationship is not pretty, but you can tell they love each other. Eisenberg also wrote and directed the movie and did an amazing job. I thought the movie was realistic. The story, acting, cinematography, editing, etc. There are a lot of great shots. The concentration camp scene is touching and respectful.
I just love this movie
I sometimes felt sad during the movie. I think I really cared about my cousins. There are no scenes that last too long. “A Real Pain” is definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.
