James Gunn had pitched « CREATURE COMMANDOS » before taking over as CEO of DC
Follows a group of military super-humans consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn then greenlit the project himself when he became CEO of DC Studios. Series writer and creator James Gunn is seen in the opening credits with a laptop typing up a script. .

Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Return of the (Hill) King (2023). What an entry for the new DC Studios regime! This first installment and introduction to the new DC universe is promising and a welcome sight. The story takes care of the characters and the animation is top notch.

Speaking of the animation of the new « Tomorrow-verse » The animation looked very cheap and flat, with no life in the animation style or stories. UA of great stories like: « Under the Red Hood », « Justice League: Dark » and « Superman: Doomsday » set the standard for quality comic book animation. I collected all the animated movies from that era and had no interest in the Tomorrow universe, due to lazy writing and lazy animation art. But, Creature Commandos is a return to form for quality animation.
The art style is fun, lively and well drawn
I already care about the characters and the story is interesting. James Gunn is starting this universe off well and making his upcoming projects highly anticipated. The new Superman movie is definitely on my must-see list. Support the series, it’s only 2 episodes but the anticipation and connection with the characters is there.
