Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend – Francis Morales, 24 – against the wishes of their family. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s life together and makes her feelings known in the form of violent religious-themed postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers embark on a new, exciting life together. However, their bliss is cut short after a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally injured.
